Cartoon: Hopper Shares His BerriesA paper-cut cartoon about counting back and sharing. For your grown-up
Built from photos of Noah's math pages this week (enVision, Topic 2, Lessons 5 and 6): the “Add in Any Order” exit ticket, the Flip Flop Facts homework, page 80 (“4 less than 8,” “0 less than 10,” 10 − 3, and a 5 − 1 story), and “Today's Number is 9.” There was no newsletter for this week, so reading, heart words and story books are not here.
These games are extra practice. They do not replace his school pages. On the pages in the photos his answers were right; page 80, number 12 (write a story for 5 − 1) was still blank. The duck story card helps him tell one, and you can write it on his page.
Each game starts with a short “watch me” once a day: the card of dots turns around (6 + 3 and 3 + 6 make the same 9), the frog counts back on the lily pads, and today's number fills a ten-frame and becomes tally marks. Tap “My turn” any time to skip it.
Flip-flop facts: build the turned-around fact; later rounds add extra number tiles, then a matching board like the last box of his homework. Count Back Hop: he makes each hop, then says where the frog will land before it hops, then solves the “less than” riddles in words. Number of the Day: ten-frame, tally marks (four stand up, the fifth goes across), then take away 0, 1 and 2.
Voice: this week's new lines are read by a different voice from earlier weeks, a stand-in while the usual voice is unavailable. A few short lines (“Yes!”, “Now you try.”, the counting numbers) are the usual voice from earlier weeks.
Frogs and checks are saved in this browser only. Clearing the browser clears them.
Every answer is saved too: right on his own or not, how long it took, and where he asked for help. See it, or send it to the Mac, on the grown-ups progress page.
