Noah's Garden Week

Pick a garden

Together time

For your grown-up

Built from the October 12-16 first-grade newsletter: the story “Beth,” nouns, the heart words the, who, said and says, adding within 10 on a ten-frame, Circle of Grace, and “All Stories Are Anansi's.” These games are extra practice. They do not replace Happy Numbers, the math page, or reading.

No school Monday, October 12 or Tuesday, October 13. Happy Numbers: 15 minutes on Wednesday. Math page: Thursday. The paper reading log is due on the last school day of October.

Heart parts, for you: in the, the e. In who, wh says /h/ and o says /oo/. In said, ai says the short e sound. In says, ay says the short e sound and the last s says /z/.

Each together card opens with a short play, then a tell-it-back game. The pictures are short cut-paper films made in code. “Beth” retells the first story in his reader, Snap Shots. The Anansi play retells the folktale in simple words. Grown-ups are not drawn: Mom is her sun hat, Dad is a hand, the Sky God is the sky.

The Circle of Grace play reviews the first-grade ideas of the program: the movement, kind and hurtful actions, a funny feeling as a signal, and telling a trusted grown-up. It goes with the school lesson and does not replace it. The newsletter did not say which lesson this week is, so watch it with him.

Plants and checks are saved in this browser only. Clearing the browser clears them.

Every answer is saved too: right on his own or not, how long it took, and where he asked for help. See it, or send it to the Mac, on the grown-ups progress page.
